Find permits quickly using powerful search and filtering capabilities.

Plotwise offers comprehensive search and filtering tools to help you find exactly what you need across your watchlist, portfolio, and radar discoveries.

Quick Search

Global Search Bar

The search bar at the top of tables provides instant filtering:

  • Type to filter visible results
  • Searches across multiple fields
  • Results update as you type

Searchable Fields:

  • Permit number
  • Address
  • Description
  • Company name
  • Person name

Search Tips

Exact phrases: Use quotes for exact matching

"123 Main Street"

Partial matching: Results include partial matches

BLD-24 → matches BLD-24-001234, BLD-24-005678

Filter Panel

Accessing Filters

  1. Click "Filters" button above table
  2. Filter panel expands
  3. Select filter criteria
  4. Results update automatically

Available Filters

Status Filter

Filter by permit status:

  • All Statuses: Show everything
  • Active: In-progress permits
  • Needs Attention: Requires your action
  • Completed: Finished permits

Date Filters

Filter by various dates:

  • Created Date: When permit was filed
  • Updated Date: Last activity
  • Added Date: When you started tracking

Date options:

  • Last 7 days
  • Last 30 days
  • Last 90 days
  • Custom range

Priority Filter

Filter by your assigned priority:

  • High priority
  • Medium priority
  • Low priority
  • No priority set

Tag Filter

Filter by tags you've applied:

  • Select one or more tags
  • Shows permits with ANY selected tag
  • Use for project grouping

Company/Person Filter

Filter by associated parties:

  • Type company or person name
  • Autocomplete suggestions appear
  • Select to filter

Combining Filters

Filters work together (AND logic):

  • Status: "Active" AND
  • Priority: "High" AND
  • Date: "Last 30 days"

Results show permits matching ALL criteria.

Column Sorting

Single Column Sort

Click any column header to sort:

  1. First click: Sort ascending (A-Z, oldest first)
  2. Second click: Sort descending (Z-A, newest first)
  3. Third click: Remove sort

Sort Indicators

  • ↑ Arrow up: Ascending order
  • ↓ Arrow down: Descending order

Default Sorting

Tables have smart defaults:

  • Watchlist: Priority status, then recent activity
  • Portfolio: Newest discoveries first
  • Radar: Distance from condition center

Saved Views

Creating Saved Views

Save frequently used filter combinations:

  1. Apply desired filters
  2. Click "Save View"
  3. Name the view
  4. Access later from dropdown

Managing Views

  • Edit: Change filters in saved view
  • Rename: Update view name
  • Delete: Remove saved view
  • Set Default: Opens automatically

Suggested Views

Common views to create:

  • "Urgent" - High priority + Needs attention
  • "This Week" - Updated in last 7 days
  • "Client: ABC Corp" - Filtered by company tag

Location-Based Search

Find permits near an address:

  1. Use Radar feature for radius search
  2. Or filter by city/jurisdiction in Watchlist

Permit Number Patterns

Search by permit number patterns:

  • Full number: BLD-24-001234
  • Prefix: BLD-24
  • Contains: 001234

Company Variations

The system normalizes company names:

  • "D.R. Horton Inc." finds "DR HORTON"
  • "ABC Company LLC" finds "ABC COMPANY"

Optimized for Speed

  • Filters apply instantly on client
  • Large datasets handled efficiently
  • Server-side for complex searches

Best Practices

  1. Start broad, narrow down: Add filters progressively
  2. Clear filters: Reset when starting new search
  3. Use saved views: Avoid re-creating common filters
