Profile Settings
Manage your personal profile information including name, contact details, and preferences.
Profile settings control how you appear to others and your personal preferences in Plotwise.
Accessing Profile Settings
- Click your avatar (top right)
- Select "Account settings"
- You're on the Profile tab by default
Profile Fields
Display Name
Your name as shown throughout Plotwise:
- Appears in team member lists
- Shows on activity logs
- Visible to organization members
To change:
- Edit the Name field
- Click Save
- Changes apply immediately
Email Address
Your primary email for:
- Sign-in (if not using OAuth)
- Email notifications
- Account recovery
To change:
- Enter new email address
- Click Save
- Check new email for verification link
- Click link to confirm
- Old email replaced
Important: Email changes require verification. Your old email remains active until the new one is verified.
Phone Number
Your phone for SMS notifications:
- Must be in E.164 format
- US numbers: +1 followed by 10 digits
- Example: +14155551234
To change:
- Enter phone number with country code
- Click Save
- Phone may require verification via SMS code
Avatar
Your profile picture:
- Displayed next to your name
- Shows in team views
- Visible in activity logs
To upload:
- Click avatar area or upload button
- Select image file (JPG, PNG)
- Crop if needed
- Save
Requirements:
- Max file size: 5MB
- Square images work best
- Recommended: 200x200 pixels or larger
Theme Preference
Choose your visual theme:
- Light: White background, dark text
- Dark: Dark background, light text
- System: Matches your device setting
To change:
- Select theme option
- Changes apply immediately
Profile Best Practices
Recognizable Name
Use a name your team recognizes:
- Full name for formal teams
- Nickname if commonly used
- Consistent across platforms
Professional Avatar
Choose an appropriate image:
- Clear headshot (recommended)
- Company logo (acceptable)
- Avoid blank/default avatar
Current Contact Info
Keep information updated:
- Accurate email for notifications
- Working phone for SMS alerts
- Change promptly if details change
Profile Visibility
Your profile is visible to:
- Members of your organizations
- Plotwise support (for assistance)
Your profile is NOT visible to:
- Public internet
- Other Plotwise users outside your orgs
