Portfolio Overview
Auto-discover permits from contractors and companies you work with regularly using condition-based search.
Portfolio is Plotwise's automatic permit discovery feature for known business relationships. Set up conditions to track contractors, companies, or people you work with regularly, and Portfolio automatically finds their permits across all jurisdictions.
What is Portfolio?
Portfolio differs from your Watchlist in a key way:
- Watchlist: Permits you explicitly add and actively track (consumes slots, gets notifications)
- Portfolio: Permits automatically discovered based on conditions (no slots, discovery-focused)
Think of Portfolio as your "permit radar" for known entities - contractors, suppliers, clients, or partners whose work you want to monitor.

Best Practices
Condition Naming
Use clear, descriptive labels:
- ✅ "ABC Plumbing - License 12345"
- ✅ "John Smith - Architect"
- ❌ "Company 1"
- ❌ "Test"
Condition Specificity
Be specific enough to avoid noise:
- Company name + FEI number for precision
- License number for unambiguous matching
- Full name (not just "John") for people
Regular Review
- Check Portfolio weekly for new discoveries
- Add relevant permits to Watchlist promptly
- Remove or update stale conditions
Limitations
- Maximum 5 conditions per organization
- Maximum 500 permits per condition displayed
- Historical permits included (not just recent)
- Completed permits shown at lower opacity
