Troubleshooting Steps

Basic Troubleshooting

  1. Refresh the page

    • Press Ctrl+R (Cmd+R on Mac)
    • Or click browser refresh button
  2. Clear browser cache

    • Chrome: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data
    • Firefox: Settings → Privacy → Clear Data

  3. Try incognito/private mode

    • Tests without extensions or cached data
    • If faster, issue is local to your browser
  4. Try different browser

    • Isolates browser-specific issues
    • Use latest version of major browser
  5. Check network

    • Run speed test (fast.com)
    • Try different network if available
    • Restart router if issues persist

Advanced Troubleshooting

Check Browser DevTools

  1. Open DevTools (F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I)
  2. Go to Network tab
  3. Reload page
  4. Look for:
    • Red failed requests
    • Very slow requests (>5 seconds)
    • Large file downloads

Check Memory Usage

Optimizing Your Workflow

Efficient Data Management

Archive completed permits:

  • Remove permits you no longer need to track
  • Frees up slots and improves performance
  • Export data first if needed for records

Use filters effectively:

  • Default to filtered views
  • Create saved views for common needs
  • Avoid loading all permits when possible

Organize with tags:

  • Tag permits for quick filtering
  • Use consistent naming convention
  • Filter by tags instead of scrolling

Browser Optimization

Manage tabs:

  • Close Plotwise tabs when not in use
  • Use bookmarks instead of keeping tabs open
  • Limit to 1-2 Plotwise tabs

Regular maintenance:

  • Clear cache weekly
  • Update browser regularly
  • Restart browser daily if heavy use

Network Optimization

For slow connections:

  • Reduce items per page
  • Avoid large exports
  • Use mobile data as backup if Wi-Fi is slow

For mobile use:

  • Use Wi-Fi when available
  • Reduce data by using filters
  • Consider mobile-specific workflows
