- Isolated permits, contacts, and settings
- Separate team members and permissions
Who Needs Multiple Organizations?

Managing Multiple Organizations
Independent Settings
Each organization has its own:
- Permit watchlist
- Portfolio conditions
- Radar conditions
- Contact directory
- Team members
- Notification preferences
- Billing and subscription
Shared Elements
Across all organizations, you share:
- Your user account
- Your login credentials
- Your personal profile
- Password and security settings
Data Isolation
Organizations are completely separate:
- Permits don't transfer between orgs
- Contacts are per-organization
- Notes and tags are isolated
- Team members must be invited separately
Role Differences by Organization
Different Roles Possible
You can have different roles in each organization:
- Owner of your own company's org
- Admin at a client's org
- Member at a partner's org
Permission Implications
Your access varies by organization:
| Your Role | Capabilities |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full control, billing, deletion |
| Admin | Manage members, settings |
| Member | Use features, personal settings |
Billing Considerations
Separate Subscriptions
Each organization has independent billing:
- Own subscription plan
- Own payment method
- Own invoices
- Own usage limits
Cost Management
For multiple organizations:
- Evaluate needs per organization
- Use appropriate plan tier
- Consider annual billing for savings
- Consolidate if organizations can share
Note: Permit slots cannot be shared across organizations. Each organization needs sufficient slots for its watchlist.
Best Practices
Naming Conventions
Use clear, consistent naming:
- "ABC Construction" (client name)
- "Smith Properties - East" (portfolio + region)
- "Personal" (your own projects)
Organization Structure
Decide organization boundaries:
- By client: Each client gets own org
- By project type: Commercial vs. residential
- By team: Different teams need separation
- By billing: Who pays for tracking
When to Create vs. Use One
Create separate organizations when:
- Different billing responsibility
- Need isolated team access
- Client requires data separation
- Different business entities
Use single organization when:
- Same team manages all permits
- Consolidated billing preferred
- No access isolation needed
- Simpler is better
Transferring Between Organizations
Moving Permits
Permits cannot be directly transferred. To track in new org:
- Note permit number from old org
- Switch to new organization
- Add permit to watchlist
- Notes/tags must be recreated
Moving Team Members
Team members need separate invitations:
- Invite to new organization
- They accept invitation
- They now have access to both
- Remove from old org if needed
