General Organization Settings

Configure your organization's basic information and default preferences.

General settings control the basic identity and default configurations for your organization.

Accessing General Settings

  1. Click organization name (top left)
  2. Select "Organization settings"
  3. Click "General" tab

Organization Identity

Organization Name

The name displayed throughout Plotwise:

  • Appears in navigation
  • Shows in member invitations
  • Used in email communications

To change:

  1. Edit the Name field
  2. Click Save
  3. Name updates everywhere

Best practices:

  • Use official business name
  • Keep it recognizable to team
  • Avoid abbreviations that may confuse

Your organization's visual identity:

  • Displayed in navigation
  • Shows in organization switcher
  • Used in some notifications

To upload:

  1. Click logo area or upload button
  2. Select image file (JPG, PNG)
  3. Crop if needed
  4. Save

Requirements:

  • Max file size: 5MB
  • Square images work best
  • Recommended: 200x200 pixels minimum

Organization Slug

The URL-friendly identifier:

  • Used in all organization URLs
  • Example: plotwise.us/organizations/your-slug/
  • Set during organization creation

Default Settings

Timezone

Default timezone for the organization:

  • Affects how dates/times display
  • Individual users can override
  • Primarily affects shared views

Date Format

How dates appear throughout the app:

  • MM/DD/YYYY (US)
  • DD/MM/YYYY (International)
  • YYYY-MM-DD (ISO)

Distance Units

For location-based features (Radar):

  • Miles (US)
  • Kilometers (Metric)

Organization Metadata

Created Date

When the organization was created. Cannot be changed.

Organization ID

Unique identifier for API use. Found in Developers settings.

Danger Zone

Delete Organization

Permanently deletes the organization and all its data:

  • All permits removed from Watchlist
  • All Portfolio/Radar conditions deleted
  • All contacts and notes deleted
  • All members removed
  • Billing cancelled

To delete:

  1. Click "Delete organization"
  2. Type organization name to confirm
  3. Click confirm
  4. Organization immediately deleted

Only organization owners can delete the organization.

Transfer Ownership

Transfer owner role to another member:

  1. Go to Members settings
  2. Find the member
  3. Click "Transfer ownership"
  4. Confirm action
  5. You become an Admin

Best Practices

Organization Naming

  • Use full company name
  • Distinguish from personal accounts
  • Consider client-facing visibility

Logo Guidelines

  • Clear, high-resolution image
  • Works at small sizes
  • Professional appearance

Before Deleting

Before deleting an organization:

  • Export any needed data
  • Download relevant reports
  • Cancel active subscription
  • Notify team members
